Avocado Butter
Avocado butter is a plant-derived ingredient commonly used in skincare and handcrafted soap formulations. It is created by combining avocado oil with natural hydrogenation processes that transform the oil into a soft, spreadable butter.

The result is a smooth botanical butter with a creamy texture that blends easily with other oils and butters used in cosmetic formulations. Because of its consistency, avocado butter is often used in lotions, balms, body butters, and handcrafted soaps.
Avocado itself comes from the fruit of the avocado tree (Persea americana), a plant native to Central and South America. The oil pressed from the fruit has long been valued as a plant-based ingredient in culinary and cosmetic applications.
When avocado oil is converted into butter form, it becomes easier to incorporate into products that benefit from a thicker, more structured texture. In soapmaking, avocado butter is typically added in modest amounts to contribute to the overall composition of oils used in the formula.
Botanical butters such as avocado butter, shea butter, and cocoa butter are frequently used together to create balanced formulations. Each ingredient contributes its own texture and character to the finished product.
Because avocado butter melts smoothly when warmed by the skin, it is often included in products designed to soften and condition the skin. Its creamy texture also makes it easy to blend with other plant-derived ingredients.
Today, avocado butter remains a popular ingredient among formulators who prefer working with botanical oils and butters when creating handcrafted skincare and soap products.
